Synergy effects

Friday, January 11th, 2008

A funny synergy effect results from the fact that Shuron’s Letters is using Wordpress too. As long as I’m his reader and he is mine and we push the plugin selection independent, the total number of reviewed and selected useful plugins is almost the double of my own. Thanks to Shuron’s introduction, my blog will also support multi-language posts using the Polyglot plugin.

Tracking technology changes

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

In order to be able to track the technology impact on this page, I introduce a new About page, that reveals the technological background of this site. I will also publish about the customizations I execute.

And I wish all of you a happy new year!

Page maintenance

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Using some hints from Shuron’s letters I upgraded my Wordpress to actual version. As described in Update your wordpress with one click, I also used WordPress Database Backup plugin. In addition to a single upgrade operation, it also supports scheduled backup of the entire database. After the update I installed a new theme and nice Bib2HTML plugin. Using that I updated the business and research sections, filling the list of own publications and of supervised works.

My first Live Writer Experiences

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

During the creating of the first “Live Writer”-Post, the following error occurred.

When using Windows Live Writer (Beta), I received the error:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripProgressBar.Increment(Int32 value)
at SmilingGoat.WindowsLiveWriter.Flickr.InsertFlickrImageForm.imageProcessor_ProgressChanged(Object sender, ProgressChangedEventArgs e)
at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.OnProgressChanged(ProgressChangedEventArgs e)
at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.ProgressReporter(Object arg)

The error pops up on flickr image insertio with size changed to small.

Nevertheless I’ll let the product installed on my machine and will test it further. The reason for that is the support of tags and Flickr-images…
